We'd originally planned to stay in Ft. Lauderdale last night, but after the St. Petersburg debacle, I decided that homeostasis was going to serve us better. We drove farther to get back to Orlando and stay at the same hotel with the same pool. We even got the same room. I'd thought we'd be back to the hotel earlier, but with the rain delay and the boat trip (still the right call!) we got in late.
I got up early to go down to the pool and ask about a cabana so we could have a little more space and a little more attention. The pool stays open until 11 and I really wasn't sure how long the kids would want to stay. We lucked into a cancelation and got the cabana I'd have selected if I could have chosen.
The boys all slept late, and then it was swimsuits and pool time. They had lunch in the cabana while I packed the car. Auggie finally got a chance to go on the water slide (three times!) today, because it had been closed when we were here before. I didn't get a picture because I was in the water with him, but there was a moment where he was floating on a tube in the lazy river that just captured today perfectly. Small kid, perfectly at ease, confident in himself and the world around him.
I thought we were going to have to drag them off (still 7 hours of driving to get to tonight's stop), but they were ready to go by about 2 and we got on the road.
I had a minor meltdown because I thought I'd lost my knife, but it turned out I'd packed it in a *different* small zip pocket than the one I'd thought. Whew!
